Monday, March 29: Cesar Chavez Holiday (No School).Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 15: Spring Break (No School).Thank you for your continued support and dedication to the Tolleson Union High School District. You can just pay taxes and let downtown talk about how to spend it, or you can give it to support the smiling faces participating in extracurricular activities around our campuses and have your taxes reduced. You can contribute up to $200 for an individual or $400 for a married couple and receive a dollar-for-dollar credit on your state income taxes. Time is running out to make a tax credit contribution (April 15 deadline). Luna-Najera will do her very best to represent the citizens of our community, much like she already does with representing the best interests of our parents and students as a governing board member. Elda Luna-Najera, was appointed to the state legislature to fill a vacancy in legislative district 22. I do have some exciting news to share with all of you. The strategic plan will turn the dream into an ambitious goal. It’s a dream to have every former student in their mid-20’s on a career path and able to afford their own home. We intend to work closely with parents to guide students towards their life after graduation. We want them to be aware of the possibilities for their life so they make informed decisions. We want every student that graduates to know their next step and have the confidence to take it. We are also going to be building our five-year strategic plan. This department intends to make some waves as we continue to find ways to reach our students so we can teach our students. The seasons aren’t the only thing changing, as I am happy to announce that our Curriculum and Instruction Department is now the Office of Learning and Academic Success (OLAS). I hope you all take time to enjoy the weather before it gets too hot. You can go enjoy some NASCAR racing, catch a spring training baseball game, or catch the NCAA Final Four, and these are all right here in the Tolleson Union boundary! If those options are too pricey, then it’s a great time of year to just throw some carne asada on the grill at a park while playing your favorite sports with the kids and family. There are a million reasons to get out of the house this month while our weather is nice. As the luck of the Irish would have it, this month comes with a nice spring break.
